RSBC GIVE BLIND CHILDREN A VOICE, WITH AN ART INSTALLATION CREATED WITH INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED ARTIST & POET ROBERT MONTGOMERY.
As a charity the Royal Society for Blind Children had little if any awareness. Add to that the fact that we rarely ever see blind children in our daily lives and it was clear that a different approach to the traditional ways of raising money and awareness was needed.
Our challenge became to make the cause of these invisible children, unmissable.
In the UK, blind children will not work more than 6 months of their entire life. This shocking fact became the tension for an inspiring art piece with Robert Montgomery.
“In Our Dreams We See Forever” is an art hybrid, conjoining light sculpture, film, poetry and moving vehicle.
The piece features a trademark Montgomery light poem on its roof. Inside, a four-screen video installation runs on a loop, relaying interviews with visually impaired children about their dream and life aspirations. The effect is immersive as conversations transmit around the viewer. The vehicle is imprinted with Braille poems from the children, flipping the disability that the children face every day onto the viewer.

On 31 January, “In Our Dreams We See Forever” launched at Granary Square, King's Cross. It then embarks upon a journey around the country, before being auctioned with all the money going to the RSBC.
